So hubby and I spent the past weekend up in VA for my aunts wedding. Trust me when I say it was full of interesting moments. On a sad note my dad broke his foot :( so he and mom couldn't go exploring DC with my brother, chris, and myself.
Thats my brother and I in the photo for this post. We've gone through periods of being close and not so close just due to life, nothing against each other at all. Never the less he was one of my best friends growing up because we went through a lot together. When you move as much as we did you end up counting on each other because you don;t have those life long friends. He has always been there to protect me, keep me out of trouble, and put me in check when I'm being a brat. I was the little sister that tried to wear his clothes, climb the same trees that he would climb, and beg to use his toys all the time. In Kansas during one of the many snowball fights between our side of the street and the other the boys built a fort and he allowed me to climb inside so I'd be safe from getting hit. Instead of throwing snowballs I was helping make them. We also had a neighborhood bully that liked to hit girls. After the bully smacked me once my brother started to fight the kid... and to protect him I jumped in too and started kicking the kid. That was one of the very few times I ever fought growing up, but when it comes to siblings defending each other we were both right there. Another time in high school a boy who didn't even know me said something crude about me to my brother. My brother chased the boy down to fight him to defend me. Heck, he even taught me how to parallel park by using a riding lawn mower, a grill, and the recycling bin back when he was getting his drivers license. Can you get a better brother than that?
We've had our arguments... and I have my dads short temper at times, but through thick and thin I love my brother, and as much as we may bicker at times, he is someone I know I can always count on. I had a ton of fun on this trip with my brother, and I'm glad we had that time together before he moves to Missouri in the fall. Incase you're reading this... Love you Alex!
