The only negative thing going on right now is my back. So... I kind of started slacking on the workouts. Surprised? Neither am I. Anyways so I stopped last week out of 1) sheer tiredness and 2) nobody pushing me, because my back quit hurting. I was excited, ecstatic, and thankful that this was finally over. So maybe I counted my eggs before they hatched, maybe this is a lesson that I shouldn't be slacking. Either way, tomorrow my butt is getting back into gear and I'm going to continue my workouts.
Work was pretty awesome today. First off we were pulled into an unexpected meeting in the middle of the first half of the day... given a cup with ice cream, and wondering why we were meeting. Then panic kicked in and everyone became nervous that something went wrong at the board meeting Monday.... the layoffs. The board has pretty much bounced back on forth on how they were leaning so the past few months have been a bit stressful for my coworkers and myself in regard to jobs next year. First they were going to cut the positions completely, then cut the amount of positions in half, then not cut, then cut... the rumor mill was a mess. My coworkers started thinking that uh oh... the ice cream was to sweeten everyone up before they gave us bad news. However it turned out that the district decided to keep that position and make cuts elsewhere. They apparently realized how important the position is and decided to keep it. Thank goodness. I know I have another job lined up for the fall, but I have friends at this job that would be in a jam if their position was cut. That was the last thing that anyone wanted. Then after that meeting I handed in my letter saying that I would not be returning next year and the news spread pretty fast. Then again our campus is TINY. So anyways everyone was very supportive and excited for me because they knew how bad I wanted my own classroom to teach. At the same time I definitely made some great connections within the district and if I decide to go back to public school then I'll have a way to get my foot in the door once again. It was nice having everyones blessing and support.
I honestly feel that life is on track right now. Things are looking bright for the future.
