Last Saturday I spent a little bit of my afternoon in the West Houston Testing Center taking a little test to become ESL certified. I was freaking out inside because the test covers three domains. I studied all three domains (areas) and it turned out the one that I focued on the most happened to barely be on the exam. On top of that the test is just 70 questions, as opposed to the 120+ that the other certification exams have. So I sat down, took the test within 15-30 minutes, submitted the test, and left. I jumped in the car and instantly called mom because I didn't feel confident at all about the exam. There was no way that I could have passed. Well.... I PASSED with a good score too!! So I am now officially certified for EC-4th grade classrooms and ESL EC-4th grade classrooms.
This should make job hunting in Houston easier because becoming ESL certified is starting to become mandatory in this area of Texas.
